"How much is a track day?" gets answered with hand-waving everywhere else. We aggregate every NorCal organizer's schedule, so here are the real numbers, as listed in June 2026. Prices move and events sell out — the live schedule always has current pricing.
The short answer
A single motorcycle track day in Northern California runs roughly $215–$280 at most tracks, with one big exception: WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, where a day runs $600+.
What organizers are charging in 2026
Thunderhill West: around $215 for a single day, with two-day weekend packages near $430.
Buttonwillow: roughly $245–$250 a day depending on organizer, with two-day packages around $450 — and occasional sale pricing below that.
Thunderhill East: race-practice Fridays from about $175; standard days in the $215–$250 range. Z2's listed range at Thunderhill and Sonoma runs from $35 (crew/gate entry) up to roughly $225–$325 for full rider entries depending on the event.
Sonoma Raceway: generally toward the upper end of the standard range; check the specific event.
Laguna Seca: about $669 per day on current 2026 listings. Yes, really — more on why below.
Why is Laguna Seca three times the price?
Monterey County's sound ordinance limits how many loud-vehicle days the track gets each year and how many bikes can run, so organizers pay more for a scarcer product and pass it on. Add the track's reputation — the Corkscrew is on every rider's list — and limited moto dates that sell out anyway, and the price holds. How to pay less
Two-day packages: most weekend doubles price below two singles — typically saving $30–60.
Season passes and ticket packs: several organizers sell multi-day passes (3-, 5-, even 7-day packs) at meaningful discounts, and Carters@theTrack publishes season-pass options for their calendar. If you'll ride four or more days this year, do the math — passes usually win.
Race-practice days: open practice days attached to race weekends (like AFM Fridays) often run cheaper than standard track days.
Watch for sales: organizers discount slow-filling dates. Spots-remaining counts on our schedule are a decent tell for which dates might go on sale — and which will sell out instead.
The costs nobody mentions
Budget for gas (track riding drinks fuel, and Willows or Buttonwillow round trips add more), tires over a season, and lodging or camping for two-day weekends — most tracks offer cheap or free overnight camping in the paddock. A realistic all-in for a local single day on the bike you own: entry plus $60–100 of consumables and fuel.
